THE VILLAGE VOICE
Del Mar Foundation's Children's Committee
Bringing Creative Events Each Month to Del Mar
By Shelley Moore
The Del Mar Foundation through its Children's Program Committee sponsors lots of fun and educational programs throughout the year. The Children's Committee, chaired by Lisa Lutz, consists of parents who brainstorm ideas for programs, and decide which programs to present. A subcommittee is formed to plan and organize each event. At any given time, several subcommittees are at work.
Showing off her sailor's valentine craft.
Thanks to a sponsorship by the Del Mar Library, committee members, Beth Davidson and Belinda Donner presented a Sailor's Valentine (balsam boxes decorated with shells) craft before the monthly Children's concert.
Children enjoy Hullabaloo concert.
Next month the children's committee is celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday with a "Cat In The Hat" craft before the Bucket Ruckus concert at the Powerhouse. The Easter Bunny will be joining Children's Committee members, Marna Pippal and Jennifer Vodrazka, to bring an Easter Egg Hunt to Del Mar on March 22. On April 20, children will have a chance to meet the inventor, author, scientist, and founding father: Mr. Benjamin Franklin through the Traveling Lantern Theater Company's play. There is talk of some kite making crafts and a great chance to understand just how a kite and a key tamed electricity!
If you are marveling at the creativity and endless energy the Del Mar Foundation's Children's Committee brings, then just wait until May when Lisa Kerwin and Steph Lane bring Seaside Mommy and Me Yoga or when Kim Filanc and Jennifer McDowell bring family movie night to Del Mar . There is no telling what the rest of the Committee might come up with next, so be sure to check out the Foundation's website at www.DelMarFoundation.org . If you have a great idea for a children's event or would like more information call 858-635-1363 or email Committee Chair Lisa Lutz at firstname.lastname@example.org today!
