Concert Time! Jake's and Brigantine Partner with the Foundation

By Lynn Gaylord

On Tuesday evening, June 24th, the Del Mar Foundation will kick off the summer with the first of four Twilight Concerts in Powerhouse Park. Music by the local band Chaos Theory begins at 7:00 p.m. but you will want to stake out your blanket long before then. The Junior Lifeguards will be passing through the crowds selling opportunity drawing tickets for such prizes as restaurant dinners, baseball tickets, race track passes, and cash. This is a wonderful way to support the lifeguards, the concerts, and the Foundation.

For those lucky enough to have contributed early for a picnic dinner basket, your wine, utensils, and dinners will be waiting for you under the Del Mar Foundation tent anytime after 5:30 pm. These dinners are provided by two terrific local restaurants: Jake's Del Mar and The Brigantine. "Jake's just believes in giving back to the community which has been so good to them. The concerts are a lot of fun and they really bring the community together," says manager and partner, Liz Anderson, who also happens to be a board member of the Del Mar Foundation.

The same is echoed by The Brigantine's general manager, John Azevedo. "Our company philosophy is always to be a part of the community. We are a local group, local high school graduates, and just believe in always giving back."

Thank you Brigantine! Thank you Jake's! With your loyal support of the community, we all benefit from a better place to live. So Del Marians, don't forget Jake's and The Brigantine when you are thinking of that special place to go for lunch or dinner. And tell them how much you appreciate their support of the Del Mar Foundation and the Twilight concerts. We all benefit! It just doesn't get better than a good sunset, wine, music, and friends to pass a beautiful evening in Del Mar. See you there!

Lynn Gaylord is president of the Del Mar Foundation.
