Picnic dinner and a concert, anyone?

By Lynn Gaylord

Summer is just around the corner. The kids have a few more weeks of school. The days are longer and the sunsets are wonderful. And yes, if your family is like mine, the relatives have already staked out their visiting time with you because there couldn't be any better place to live or visit on this earth than Del Mar. We are truly blessed.

So, the Del Mar Foundation has a plan for you! To both entertain those guests and donate to a good cause, you may make a donation to the Del Mar Foundation and receive picnic dinners for four with two bottles of wine for each of this summer's "Twilight Concerts." We will have all that you need for a great evening: the music, the dancing, the food, and the sunset. It will be waiting for you at the Del Mar Foundation tent in Powerhouse Park. You bring the blanket and the kids, or the guests, or the friends, and we'll do the rest.

Here is the line-up:

.June 24 at 7 pm., Chaos Theory, with dinners by The Brigantine & Bully's

.July 22, at 7 pm, The Heroes, with dinners by Pacifica Del Mar & Sbicca's

.August 19, at 7 pm, Island Fever, with dinners by En Fuego & Harvest Ranch Market

.September 14, at 4 pm, Tim Flannery & Friends, with dinners by Jake's Del Mar

Here is how you can help with your donation and have dinner prepared for you at the same time:

. One concert - $150

. Two concerts - $300

. Three concerts - $425, Four concerts - $500

Or become a "Twilight Star" with your donation of $1000 and receive:

.Picnic Dinners for 4, with two bottles of wine, in a lovely wooden picnic basket at all four concerts

.A free parking space across the street from the Park

.Two tickets to Shakespeare in the Plaza A Midsummer Night's Dream on Aug. 5

.Optional: We will reserve a space for you on the lawn!

Both the restaurants offering the Picnic Dinners and the bands playing will be wonderful. Choose one, two, three, or four evenings to have your Picnic Dinners at the Powerhouse. For those of you who have ever searched for a parking place or a place to put your blanket on the lawn, you'll be thinking seriously of becoming a "Twilight Star" and helping a good cause at the same time. I personally think this is worth the entire donation!

One of the stated missions of The Del Mar Foundation is to promote civic pride and cohesiveness while promoting cultural events. Does it get better than a glass of good wine, other Del Mar neighbors, a beautiful sunset, and live music?

Please make your check payable and send to The Del Mar Foundation, P. O. Box 2913, Del Mar, Ca. 92014. If you have any questions, call (858) 404-0580. Please specify which night(s) you would like us to have your dinner ready!
