Del Mar Foundation sponsors Children's Programs

By Lynn Gaylord

The Del Mar Foundation through its The Children's Program Committee sponsors lots of fun and educational programs throughout the year. The Children's Committee, chaired by Claire McGreal, consists of parents who brainstorm ideas for programs, and decide which programs to present. A subcommittee is formed to plan and organize each event. Ay any given time, several subcommittees are at work. At present, plans are underway for a Halloween Parade and a winter holiday performance at the Powerhouse. In the past year, the Committee has presented the 2004 Winter Holiday Party with Santa, Marine Exploration Day, Fourth of July Decorated Bike Parade, the Luau at the Beach, the Del Mar Day Picnic, as well as family evenings at the Powerhouse with bingo or movies. If you would like to learn more about the Children's Program, or if you would like to help with planning future events, please call the Del Mar Foundation at (858) 635-1363.

Halloween Parade

The Committee's next event is a Halloween Costume Parade at Del Mar Plaza at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 31. Got a good costume or a spooky face? Be sure to join in the Halloween Parade. We will meet on the upper level of the Del Mar Plaza, in front of Il Forniao. Trick-or-treating will start from there proceeding to participating merchants and restaurants. Prizes and snacks will conclude this very fun afternoon. All children must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
