support this important community project and make ground-breaking a reality!
Del Mar is on the verge of achieving an important community goal: replacing our antiquated and unsafe main lifeguard tower with a Beach Safety Center, providing our lifeguards with a modern and safe working environment. The project also includes new walkways and improved public bathrooms.
The latest word from the Friends of the Powerhouse:
"The Friends of the Powerhouse in partnership with the City of Del Mar are working on the final leg to replace the
outdated, antiquated, and unsafe main lifeguard tower. The project will also replace and
lower the drainage ditch located at Coast Blvd and 17th Street. It will cover the open,
unsightly ditch and provide a safe, appealing boardwalk to the beach. The entrance will be
aesthetically pleasing with hand painted tiles and personalized bricks."
The Del Mar Foundation has previously made a $35,000 grant to Friends of the Powerhouse, the principal fundraisers for this project, to help finance the Beach Safety Center. To help raise the remaining funds, we are challenging the community to step up NOW, when the project is in its critical final fundraising drive.
We will match new donations on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to a total of $10,000. To qualify your donation for matching funds, fill out the Matching Grant Donation Form (PDF), and send it with your donation to: Del Mar Foundation, P.O. Box 2913, Del Mar, CA 92014.
Thank you for your support of this worthy community project!
