About Kathleen Stoughton
As a director, curator, educator and development specialist, Kathleen Stoughton has worked at some of the country's most renowned arts institutions. In addition, she has taught art history and museum studies classes at USC, San Diego Mesa College and UC San Diego. In 1988, she founded San Diego's first Museum Studies Program. Many of her students have secured directorships, staff or faculty positions nationally at noted institutions. As the Director of the UC San Diego Art Gallery, she launched new programs including an international exhibitions program, an artist-in-residence program and an international travel program for the Gallery's benefactors. In addition, she organized the first K-12 outreach program for the UCSD Division of Arts and Humanities bringing thousands of youth to the campus for arts education experiences. A musician as well, Stoughton is the recipient of a number of awards including the coveted Smithsonian Outstanding Achievement Award, the San Diego Industry-Education Council's Outstanding Educator Award, the YMCA's Tribute to Women in Industry Award, and San Diego Magazine's "People to Watch." In addition, Stoughton has been an active volunteer for the San Diego community, serving on boards and committees for more than 20 organizations.

About LUX Art Institute
Kathleen Stoughton is the new Executive Director of Lux Art Institute that is right in our own neighborhood and is celebrating 20 years this October. Lux hosts Artists-in-Residence from around the world with a complementing studio series. You can watch, right in front of your eyes, an artist create his or her unique form of art including oil painting, mixed media and photography. If you, too, want to try your hand, Lux offers a wide range of classes, camps and workshops for all ages including children, adults and seniors.

The mission of the Del Mar Foundation is to promote civic pride and cohesiveness, acquire and preserve open space, improve beaches and parklands, raise and grant funds, and sponsor diverse cultural programs and community events in Del Mar.
